In mid-June Daniel Witthaus visited Mt Isa, the first of five regional, rural and/or remote communities that he’ll visit as part of LGBTI work by the National Institute for Challenging Homophobia Education (NICHE). This followed a Brisbane launch of NICHE at Queensland Association of Healthy Communities on the way through – attended by 17 enthusiastic locals.
Returning after his first visit in 2013, local community members, especially PFLAG made him feel welcome as he completed a busy week of media (inc. the ABC), training, school visits, guest speaking and story collecting from locals. He even got to have a cuppa with the Mayor of Mt Isa.
